Emma Johnson

Having started her career in a small first opinion practice in 1997, Emma has been veterinary nursing for 20 years.

Once qualified, she accepted a role as Area manager for a well-known drugs company, but soon realised that her love was in clinical nursing - so she accepted the role of Head Nurse at a mixed practice a year later.

After 3 successful years, in 2006 she was offered the role of Head Nurse at Fitzpatrick Referrals, an orthopaedic and neurology hospital, where she stayed for 10 years leading a team of 70 nurses and auxiliaries.

In 2001 she was awarded her Assessor qualification, giving her the chance to mentor veterinary students.  In 2008, she attained the Advanced Diploma in Medical Nursing awarded by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, and in 2012 she attained the Diploma in Clinical and Professional Studies awarded by the Royal Veterinary College.

Her passion to promote the awareness of Registered Veterinary Nurse status within the veterinary profession led to her appointment in 2014 as Regional Coordinator for veterinary nurse training in Surrey for the British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA).

Emma comes to the Hybrid Breeders Association with a wealth of knowledge and skill to help lead the standardisation of ethical breeding throughout the UK.
